Big South Announces Volleyball Players of the Week - Sept. 11

Maddie Palmer (Simpsonville, S.C.) has been named the Big South Volleyball Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb’s defensive specialist
Keira Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 4-10, the conference office announced today. In addition, High Point defensive specialist
Abby Bottomley (Virginia Beach, Va.) is this week’s Freshman of the Week.
Palmer collected her third weekly honor after she led the Highlanders to a 2-1 mark last week-- highlighted by a second Power 5 win this season over South Carolina. She recorded 48 kills (4.36 per set), 32 digs (2.91 per set), and 52.5 points (4.77 per set). Palmer notched a double-double in wins over Eastern Kentucky and the Gamecocks, and hit .406 against the Colonels.
Moore recorded 24 blocks in four matches for a 1.60 per set average in helping the Runnin’ Bulldogs to a 3-1 record for the week. She opened her week with nine blocks and three digs in a 3-1 win over The Citadel. The junior followed that up with eight blocks and three digs in a win at East Carolina.
Bottomley stood out on defense for the Panthers last week. The freshman recorded 78 digs for a 4.88 per set average, including 29 digs in a five-set loss to LSU. She also registered 22 digs in a sweep of UNC Wilmington on Sunday.
