2018 Women's Basketball Championship Seedings and Pairings Announced
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The seedings and pairings for next week’s Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Championship have been determined following the conclusion of the conference’s regular-season schedule today.
Liberty, which is the host of the 2018 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship, claimed its 16th Big South regular-season championship and clinched the No. 1 seed for the 15th time, as the Lady Flames closed the year with a 16-2 conference record. As the No. 1 seed, Liberty has secured a postseason berth.
2018 Bracket
Radford finished a game behind the Lady Flames with a 15-3 conference mark -- the most conference wins in program history. The Highlanders enter the postseason tournament riding a 10-game winning streak, as its average win margin within the span is 20.2 points.
Two-time defending champion
UNC Asheville (12-6) earned the No. 3 seed, while
High Point finished two games back at 10-8 and claimed the No. 4 seed. The Bulldogs won the 2017 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship and earned the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament as the No. 7 seed.
Following No. 4 seed High Point is
Presbyterian College, which is slotted as the No. 5 seed with its even 9-9 Big South record.
Campbell and
Gardner-Webb finished the year with identical 8-10 conference records. With the Camels’ season sweep of the Runnin’ Bulldogs, CU earns the final bye in the tournament with the No. 6 seed, while GWU will open up its postseason campaign on Thursday in the first round as the No. 7 seed.
Joining Gardner-Webb on the opening day will be No. 8 seed
Charleston Southern and No. 9 seed
Longwood. The Bucs and Lancers finished with matching 5-13 conference records, but CSU earns the higher seed with its sweep of Longwood.
Winthrop rounds out the field as the No. 10 seed and will face GWU on Thursday.

Both first round games on March 8 will be broadcast live on the Big South Network and Roku. The 2018 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship will continue with the quarterfinals on Friday, March 9, semifinals on Saturday, March 10 and the Championship game on Sunday, March 11 and carried live on ESPN3 and WatchESPN. The Big South’s Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
