Big South Announces 2019 ESPN Spring Television Schedule
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced its spring television schedule this afternoon that will be carried exclusively on ESPN networks in March, April and May -- expanding the more than 250 planned televised spring events already scheduled for ESPN+. ESPN3 will again showcase Big South baseball and softball, as well as the women’s lacrosse championship match, while ESPNU will televise one regular-season softball game plus the Big South Baseball Championship contest for the fourth consecutive year.
Big South softball opens with ESPNU televising USC Upstate at Longwood Sunday, March 24 at 4:00pm in a match-up of the league’s top two preseason favorites. Coverage on ESPN3, which is again airing Big South softball on Saturday afternoons at 2:00pm, begins March 30 with Hampton at USC Upstate in a showcase of the league’s two newest members. The remaining ESPN3 softball dates are April 6, April 20, April 27 and May 4, in addition to the first six games of the Big South Softball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting on May 8-9.
ESPN3’s baseball coverage again features a 7:00pm Friday night package. The slate begins Friday night, April 5 with Charleston Southern at Longwood. Five additional Friday night Big South games will follow -- April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3 and May 17, as well as the first six games of the Big South Baseball Championship presented by Hardee’s on May 21-22. ESPNU will televise the “Winner-Take-All” title game on Saturday, May 25 live at 12:00pm.
The Big South Women’s Lacrosse Championship match will again receive exclusive nationwide exposure for the seventh straight year on ESPN3 on Sunday, April 28 at 2:00pm. Furthermore, ESPN+ will have exclusive carriage of the Women’s Lacrosse Semifinals on Friday, April 26, the Softball Championship Semifinals and Finals on May 10-11 (4-5 games), as well as the third and fourth days of the Baseball Championship on May 23-24 (7 games).
