Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Feb. 25

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Gardner-Webb junior guard Carley Plentovich (Clearwater, Fla.) has been named the Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Campbell guard Lauren Carter (High Point, N.C.) has been named the Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 18-24, it was announced today by the Conference office.
 
Plentovich averaged 26.0 points, shot 43.5 percent (10-for-23) from 3-point range and finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in a pair of Big South contests last week. The guard finished 8-for-14 (57.1 percent) from the field with 21 points and three assists in Gardner-Webb’s key home win over Hampton last Tuesday. On Saturday, she tallied a game-high 31 points, including seven made 3-pointers in an overtime setback at High Point. The guard also grabbed four rebounds and added a pair of steals.
 
Carter averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in Campbell’s two conference matchups last week. The guard opened the span with 13 points and six boards in the Camels’ narrow home win over Charleston Southern. She then matched a career high with 16 points, including three 3-pointers, in a narrow setback at first-place Radford on Saturday.
