Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 20

Sydney Nunley (Lewisburg, W.Va.) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Hampton forward
Nylah Young (Suffolk, Va.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 13-19, it was announced today.
Nunley recorded back-to-back double-doubles in Radford’s pair of conference wins last week. On Tuesday, the center posted 10 points and 13 rebounds along with a pair of blocks in a narrow one-point road victory at Longwood. She followed that performance with a team-high 18 points and 13 boards in another one-point triumph over Winthrop on Saturday. The redshirt-senior concluded the week 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) from the field.
Young averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and shot 58.3 percent from the field to lead Hampton to a pair of conference victories last week. The freshman began the stretch with a game-high 19 points on 9-for-13 from the field in Hampton’s home win over USC Upstate on Tuesday. She then recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 boards in a 64-59 road triumph at Charleston Southern on Saturday.
