Seedings for 2020 Hercules Tires Women's Basketball Championship Determined

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The seedings and pairings for next week’s 2020 Hercules Tires Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Championship have been determined following the conclusion of the conference’s regular-season schedule today.

Campbell, which is the host of the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of Pod A in the tournament, claimed its first Big South regular-season title since 1991 and will be the No. 1 seed in the annual event. The Camels, which earned their third Big South title in program history, enter the postseason with a 16-4 conference record, and is in search of their second Big South Tournament title.
 
Radford, the defending tournament champion, closed the regular season with a 15-5 conference record and will host the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of Pod B as the No. 2 seed. The Highlanders won their last four games to close out the regular season.

2020 Bracket
 
High Point and Hampton tied for third place with identical 14-6 conference records. The Panthers swept the regular-season series with the Lady Pirates, so HPU earned the No. 3 seed, while HU landed in the No. 4 seed line. High Point enters the season on a five-game winning streak, while Hampton won six of its last seven to close out the regular season.

Gardner-Webb ended the year with a 13-7 league mark and claimed the No. 5 seed. The Runnin’ Bulldogs enter the tournament with a four-game winning streak and earned the final bye of the tournament.
 
UNC Asheville, who has played in four straight semifinal rounds, will be the No. 6 seed based on its 9-11 conference record. Winthrop and Longwood drew even with identical 8-12 Big South campaigns. During the regular season, the Eagles swept the Lancers, so Winthrop claimed the No. 7 seed, while Longwood drops to the No. 8 seed. All three teams will host first-round matchups.
 
Presbyterian College (No. 9), USC Upstate (No. 10) and Charleston Southern (No. 11) round out the field and will travel for their first-round contests.
 
First round action begins Tuesday night, March 10 at 7:00pm with No. 6 UNC Asheville hosting No. 11 Charleston Southern, No. 7 Winthrop hosting No. 10 USC Upstate and No. 8 Longwood hosting No. 9 Presbyterian College. The winners of each contest advances to Thursday’s quarterfinal round, which begins at 6:00pm at Campbell’s Gore Arena and Radford’s Dedmon Center. Both schools will host semifinal action on Friday while the highest remaining seed will host the championship game on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00pm.
 
The first two rounds of the 2020 Hercules Tires Big South Women’s Basketball Championship will be broadcast live on ESPN3, while the semifinals and championship game will air on ESPN+. The Big South’s Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
