CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) USC Upstate forward Andrin Zumbuhl (Beckenried, Switzerland) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while High Point goalkeeper Holden Trent (Greensboro, N.C.) and Winthrop keeper Gareth Shaw (Houston, Texas) are the Co-Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 10-16, it was announced today.  In addition, High Point midfielder Jefferson Amaya (Huntersville, N.C.) is the Freshman of the Week.

Zumbuhl recorded five points on two goals and an assist over two wins last week.  He netted his two goals in Upstate’s 5-3 home win over Presbyterian, where he put the Spartans ahead 2-0 at the 7:30 mark and added an insurance goal at 62:06 for the eventual 5-3 margin.  At Longwood on Saturday, Zumbuhl assisted on the squad’s second score of the contest, which came at 72:06.

Trent led the Panthers to a shutout victory over league-leading Campbell -- handing the Camels their first Big South loss of the season as well as their first scoreless Big South contest of the year.  Trent anchored the defensive effort as he faced 10 shots and made one save on the night.  Campbell entered the contest as the conference’s leader in goals (overall and Big South matches).

Shaw made a career-high seven saves in recording his second-straight shutout while making his second collegiate start to help Winthrop to a 1-0 win at UNC Asheville.  He faced a total of 24 shots on the afternoon.

Amaya netted the game-winning score in High Point’s 1-0 victory at Campbell last Wednesday.  It was his first goal of the season and came in the 86th minute off a free kick, where he evaded Campbell’s three-man wall and goalkeeper with a shot that found the lower right corner of the net.
