Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 24
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Presbyterian midfielder/forward Nacho Gallego (Madrid, Spain) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while High Point goalkeeper Holden Trent (Greensboro, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 17-23, it was announced today. In addition, PC goaltender Leo Stritter (Eschborn, Germany) is the Freshman of the Week.
Gallego scored a goal in both of PC’s wins last week. He scored the game’s first goal in the Blue Hose’s 2-1 road win at Furman last Tuesday. Gallego then posted the game-winning tally in PC’s 1-0 Big South home triumph over Longwood on Sunday.
Trent picked up two wins between the posts and had a 0.50 goals against average in 180 minutes. He first notched three saves in High Point’s 2-1 victory at No. 7 Maryland, and then notched his fifth shutout of the year as he blanked UNC Asheville on Friday, 5-0.
Stritter won twice in net and made 13 saves with a 0.50 goals against average in 180 minutes last week. He first made six saves in PC’s 2-1 win at Furman, and followed with a season-high seven stops against Longwood in recording his seventh shutout of the season.
