CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) High Point forward Noah Holmes (Cary, N.C.) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate goalkeeper Holden Trent (Greensboro, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 26-Oct. 2, it was announced today.  In addition, Gardner-Webb midfielder Jacob Harris (Cave Creek, Ariz.) is the Freshman of the Week.

Holmes recorded his second brace in three matches as he scored twice in High Point’s 5-1 Big South victory over Radford this past Saturday.  His goal at 21:14 game HPU a 1-0 advantage, while his second score of the night at 60:01 sealed the win for the Panthers.

Trent made seven saves last week as HPU went 1-0-1 with a win over Radford and a 0-0 draw at Elon.  He tallied four saves in the shutout on Wednesday, playing all 90 minutes in goal.  In Saturday’s win against the Highlanders, he made his second PK save of the season to keep Radford off the board in the first 45 minutes of play.

Harris scored the game-winner in Gardner-Webb’s 2-1, come-from-behind victory on the road at Winthrop last Wednesday.  With the score all even at 1-1, Harris took a pass and buried one of his two shots of the game past the Eagles goalkeeper for the eventual game-winner in the 36th minute.
