Big South Announces Men's Cross Country Runners of the Week - Oct. 5
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point sophomore Othmane El Gharissi (Rabat, Morocco) has been selected the Big South Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Radford’s Ethan Gear (Sittingbourne, England) is the Men’s Freshman Runner of the Week for meets ran the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 2, it was announced today.
El Gharissi finished 19th out of 308 runners at the Live in the Lou Classic with a personal-best time of 24:01.0 on the 8k course. He surged from 70th at the 2.1k split and 41st at the 3.9k split to finish inside the Top 20, and shaved off 1:46 from his prior personal best time.
Gear ran the fourth-fastest 8k race in Radford’s history with a time of 25:21.0 at the Live in the Lou Classic. He was Radford’s top runner, as well as the 10th-highest finisher among the Big South runners in the meet.
