Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Oct. 12

Anna Howerton (Winston-Salem, N.C.) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Radford’s
McKenzie Weddle (Floyd, Va.) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week for events played Oct. 5-11, it was announced today.
Howerton won the UNCG Collegiate at Grandover (par 72, 6,020 yards) with a 15-under 201 (66-67-68). She captured Medalist honors in the 107-player field by seven strokes, and her first round 6-under 66 broke the school record for lowest 18-hole score. Howerton also established program records for lowest 36-hole (133) and 54-hole (201) scores. She led the Panthers to the team title and a program-best 54-hole aggregate score of 858.
Weddle tied for 24th at the UNCG Collegiate at Grandover with a 7-over 223 (78-75-70). Her final round 70 tied her season best, and she tied as the 8th-best finisher among the 42 Big South golfers in the event. Weddle helped the Highlanders to a fifth-place standing in the 19-team field, marking the squad’s third Top 5 finish of the fall season.
