Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 16
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Radford midfielder Alex Kryazhev (Falls Church, Va.) and UNC Asheville midfielder Conor Behan (Dublin, Republic of Ireland) have been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while USC Upstate goalkeeper Cooper Jennings (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 9-15, it was announced today. In addition, Spartan forward Dzenan Cerimagic (Marietta, Ga.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Kryazhev combined for five points on two goals and one assist in a pair of matches last week. On Wednesday, he scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another as Radford earned its first conference win of the season against Upstate, 2-0. Kryazhev added his second goal in the 30th minute on Saturday at UNC Asheville.
Behan led UNC Asheville to a win over the Highlanders thanks to a two-goal afternoon. He opened the scoring with his first goal in the 13th minute, and quickly followed up with his second less than nine minutes later to give the Bulldogs a quick 2-0 advantage. Asheville went on to secure the victory, 4-1.
Jennings combined for 14 saves and a .875 save percentage in two complete matches for Upstate last week. After making five stops on Wednesday at Radford, he followed up with nine saves on 18 shots faced as the Spartans downed the Lancers at home, 2-0.
Cerimagic helped lead the offensive attack against the Highlanders with a goal in Upstate’s 2-0 win on Saturday. The freshman found the back of the net in the 40th minute and now has a total of seven points on the season, tied for second on the team.
Also nominated for Offensive Player of the Week: Pablo Brimeux (Gardner-Webb), Braiden Hall (USC Upstate) and Nick Guido (Winthrop).
Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Week: Charlie Farrar (UNC Asheville).
