High Point University Alum and 2019 Big South Champion
Samantha Vodry completed the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and Epson Tour Qualifying Tournament Stage II and is on her way to LPGA Q-Series Final Stage for a chance to compete in the LPGA Tour in 2024.
In her second career start at Stage II, the HPU alum kicked off the tournament by carding a round one 7-under 65 for her best performance at Stage II. She followed it up by shooting rounds of 75, 70, and 73 to place T15 with a final score of 5-under.
The top 40 competitors of Stage II move onto the LPGA Q-Series, where participants compete for a place on the LPGA Tour in 2024, meaning Vodry's placement at T15 in Stage II allows her to advance and gives her the opportunity to compete for a spot on the tour. The top-20 finishers of the Q-Series will earn a spot on the 2024 LPGA Tour in Category 14, while those who place 21-45 will earn 2024 LPGA Tour status in Category 15 and 2024 Epson Tour status in Category C.
Vodry played for HPU from 2016-21. During her time at High Point, Vodry held the school's record for career wins (four), rounds in the 60s (nine), rounds of par or better (28), eagles (10), and birdies (321). Vodry was also the first golfer in HPU program history to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. She won the Big South Championship in 2019 with a 4-under 212.
The LPGA Q-Series Final Stage will be six rounds and played Nov. 30 through Dec. 5.
