Big South Announces Men's Cross Country Runners of the Week - Oct. 4

Micah Gilpatric (Greenville, S.C.) has been named the Big South Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while UNC Asheville’s
Jan Málek (Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic) is the Men’s Freshman of the Week for meets ran Sept. 28-Oct. 1, it was announced today.
Gilpatric led the Buccaneers at the Live in Lou Classic with a 20th-place standing out of 378 runners, in which he clocked an 8K time of 24:08 -- just :10 seconds shy of the Top 10 finishers.
Málek made his collegiate debut at the Live in Lou Classic, and set a program freshman 8K record with a time of 24:41.7. He finished 65th in the 378-runner field, and was the Bulldogs’ second-fastest runner in the meet.
