UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb battled to a 2-2 draw in Big South Conference action at Gardner-Webb Friday night (Oct. 6).

Asheville struck first in the 13th minute, when Sergio Báguena put home his third of the season off assists from Sam Pitts-Eckersall and Myles Edmondson. Gardner-Webb would tie the match in the 31st minute, when Leonardo Andrade scored his second of the season off assists from Breno Correia and Kaelen Debbage. The teams would play out the remaining minutes of the first half trading chances before going to the break tied 1-1.  In the second stanza, Santiago Hoyos earned a penalty kick after being taken down in the Asheville box. Hoyos scored his second of the season off the penalty kick conversion to put Gardner-Webb ahead 2-1. Asheville would work its way back into the Gardner-Webb end, eventually finding paydirt in the 78th minute. Viðar Ragnarsson played a ball forward in the air, that was tracked the whole way by team captain Brendan Herb. Herb headed home his third of the season to bring the match to its final score.
