Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - Feb. 28
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Presbyterian College senior midfielder Abby Edmisten (Milton, Ga.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Campbell senior defender Rebekah Taylor (Forest Hill, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 20-26, it was announced today. Additionally, Campbell midfielder Delaney Nicolaus (Fallston, Md.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.
Edmisten posted her 12th career four-score game in last week’s win over Delaware State, going for five points in the one-goal game. The senior gathered eight points combined in two games, adding three points in the opening half against Boston University. Edmisten also reached her 96th career goal during the game against Boston.
Taylor paced the Campbell defense on Saturday at William & Mary, helping the Camels force double overtime on the road with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. The 2022 Big South Defensive Player of the Year owns seven caused turnovers and eight ground balls this season.
Nicolaus registered her first career hat trick, totaling five points with five draw controls, a caused turnover, and a ground ball in two Campbell games last week. The rookie, who was also named Big South Freshman of the Week following Campbell’s 2023 opening day win, posted three goals for the Camels at East Carolina, tacking on two draw controls, then followed with a pair of assists to go along with three draw controls, a ground ball, and a caused turnover at William & Mary. Nicolaus now owns six points on four goals and two assists on the season.
