Big South Announces Seedings for 2023 Women's Golf Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Six-time defending champion Campbell University has secured the No. 1 seed in this week’s Big South Women’s Golf Championship, which will be hosted by USC Upstate at The Links at Stoney Point in Greenwood, S.C.  The Camels receive the No. 1 seed based on its current GolfStat national ranking of 74, the highest among the 10 Big South women’s golf programs.
 
Charleston Southern is ranked No. 125 in the nation by GolfStat and receives the No. 2 seed.  High Point is the No. 3 seed with its ranking of 142, while USC Upstate earns the No. 4 seed with its national ranking of 146.  UNC Asheville, ranked No. 150, will be the No. 5 seed in the championship, with Longwood (185) receiving the No. 6 seed.  Gardner-Webb receives the No. 7 seed (No. 194), ahead of Radford (No. 8 - 206), Presbyterian College (No. 9 – 223) and Winthrop (No. 10 – 237).

The Links at Stoney Point is hosting the Big South Women’s Golf Championship for the first time, and will utilize a par 72, 6,293-yard layout to determine this year’s champion.  The 2023 Big South Women’s Golf Championship begins tomorrow (Wednesday, April 12) with a morning practice round followed by the first round of competition in the afternoon.  A three-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be held April 12-14, followed by a Semifinal/Final Match Play round featuring the top four team finishers from stroke play on Saturday, April 15.  Championship action can be followed online via GolfStat’s “Live Scoring” feature.  The 2023 champion from Match Play will receive the Big South’s automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.  The Conference Championship schedule is as follows, and is subject to change due to weather:

Meanwhile, the Big South Conference will present its 2023 All-Conference Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic Team, All-Championship Team and the annual award winners on Friday, April 14 following the 54-hole stroke event at the post-Championship awards ceremony.   The team and runner-up trophies will be presented at the conclusion of Saturday’s Match Play competition.
