Big South Announces Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week - April 11

Meagan Beal (Brewster, N.Y.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Campbell’s
Rebekah Taylor (Forest Hill, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played April 3-9, it was announced today. In addition, Longwood attacker
Sophia Passa (Gainesville, Va.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.
Beal tallied 10 goals and three assists for a combined 13 points in two conference wins. She also added 19 draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover. Beal opened the week by tying a season-high with seven points on five goals and two assists in a one-goal victory at High Point on Wednesday. She also added a team-high 10 draw controls. The senior from Brewster, N.Y. then posted another five goals, along with one assist, nine draw controls, three ground balls and one caused turnover in Furman’s 21-4 home win over Winthrop on Saturday.
Taylor led a Campbell defense that's off to a historic start to Big South play as she posted five caused turnovers and four ground balls in two wins. Opening the week against Presbyterian College, Taylor registered three caused turnovers and two ground balls as the Camels held the Blue Hose to only four goals in a 16-4 win on Wednesday. The senior followed up with two caused turnovers and another two ground balls on Saturday, helping anchor Campbell’s defense that allowed only three goals in a commanding 22-3 home victory over Wofford on Saturday.
Passa combined for eight points on six goals and two assists in a pair of Big South games last week. She also tallied four draw controls. Passa posted a career-high six goals to open the week, adding one assist for a total of seven points at Wofford, also a career high. She then added an assist and three draw controls on Saturday at home against Mercer. In all, eight of her 12 shots were placed on target for the week.
