Big South Announces Seedings for 2023 Men's Golf Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) –- Campbell University has earned the No. 1 seed in next week’s Big South Men’s Golf Championship, which will be hosted by Presbyterian College at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.  The Camels receive the No. 1 seed based on its current GolfStat national ranking of 126, the highest among the nine Big South men’s golf programs.
 
Defending Champion Charleston Southern is ranked No. 163 in the nation by GolfStat and receives the No. 2 seed, just ahead of three-seeded High Point’s ranking of 178.  Radford earns the No. 4 seed with its national ranking of 201.  Longwood, ranked No. 208, will be the No. 5 seed in the championship, with Gardner-Webb (210) receiving the No. 6 seed.  Presbyterian College receives the No. 7 seed (No. 221), just ahead of Winthrop (No. 8 – 225) and USC Upstate (No. 9 – 253).
 
The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the Big South Men’s Golf Championship for the 17th time, as the course has hosted the event every year since 2008 in addition to 2005 and 2006.  The 2023 Big South Men’s Golf Championship will be a par-72, 7,054-yard layout, and begins Sunday, April 16 with an afternoon practice round, with the first and second rounds scheduled for Monday, April 17.  A three-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be held April 17-18, followed by a Semifinal/Final Match Play round featuring the top four team finishers from stroke play on Wednesday, April 19.  Championship action can be followed online via GolfStat’s “Live Scoring” feature.  The 2023 champion from Match Play will receive the Big South’s automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.  The Conference Championship schedule is as follows, and is subject to change due to weather:

Meanwhile, the Big South Conference will present its 2023 All-Conference Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic Team, All-Championship Team and the annual award winners on Wednesday, April 19 following the 54-hole stroke event at the post-Championship awards ceremony.   The team and runner-up trophies will be presented at the conclusion of Saturday’s Match Play competition.
