High Point Takes Lead after Two Rounds of Big South Women's Golf Championship

GREENWOOD, S.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– High Point University has moved into first-place of the 2023 Women's Golf Championship following the second round of play on Thursday, as the Panthers posted a 309 to take sole possession of the top spot after sharing the first round lead.  HPU holds a four-shot lead as its aggregate total of 612 is just ahead of second-place Gardner-Webb and Campbell, who are tied at 616.  Longwood sits in fourth-place at 620 -- eight strokes behind the leader.  Meanwhile, High Point's Sarah Kahn carded an even-par 72 on Thursday and enters the final round atop the leaderboard at 2-over 146.  The Championship is being contested at The Links at Stoney Point (par 72, 6,293 yards) in Greenwood, S.C.

Longwood had the best team round of the day at 307, which moved the Lancers up one spot.  The top four team finishers after 54-holes of stroke play advance to Saturday’s Match Play Semifinals & Championship.

Kahn holds a two-shot advantage over 2021 Big South Medalist Beem Pabsimma (148).  HPU's Danielle Suh sits in third-place at 149, followed by Gardner-Webb's Linnea Hofgren at 150.  Three players -- Radford's Natalie Welsh, Gardner-Webb's Neza Siftar and Campbell's Isabella Hahne -- share fifth-place at 151.  Longwood's Annabelle Jennings posted the best individual round of the day with a 1-over 73, and jumped 24 spots on the leaderboard into a three-way tie for 10th place.
