High Point's Sarah Kahn Wins 2023 Women's Golf Championship Medalist Honors
GREENWOOD, S.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point’s
Sarah Kahn carded a 1-under 71 on Friday to mark her second round at or below par and capture Medalist honors at the Big South Women’s Golf Championship with a 1-over 217 (72-74-71) in the 54-hole stroke play event, which was contested at The Links at Stoney Point (par 72, 6,293 yards) in Greenwood, S.C. The win was Kahn's third victory of the season, and she is the second HPU player to win Big South Medalist honors since 2019.
Kahn, who entered Friday’s final round tied as the 36-hole leader at 2-over 146, posted three birdies on the front nine and held a five-stroke advantage for several holes before winning by three shots. She has secured automatic entry into the the NCAA Regionals with her victory.
Campbell's
Tomita Arejola carded the lowest round of the tournament on Friday with a 4-under 68 to jump six spots into solo second-place with a 4-over 220 (76-76-68). She finished with six birdies in the final round and concluded the event with a tournament-best 14 birdies. USC Upstate's
Beem Pabsimma finished third with a 5-over 221 (71-77-73), followed by High Point's
Ella Perna in fourth (76-78-70 = 224). Gardner-Webb's

Isabella Hahne rounded out the top five on the individual leaderboard tied for fifth-place at 9-over 225. All six players were named to the Big South All-Championship Team.
In the team standings, Campbell carded a 290 on Friday to finish with a team-aggregate 906 and move into first-place in the stroke play portion, and will be the top seed in Saturday’s Match Play Semifinal round. The Camels were tied for second-place after 36 holes and were four strokes behind on the team leaderboard entering the day. High Point dropped from first to second with a 911, while Gardner-Webb was third at 916. Charleston Southern shot a 295 on Friday to jump from fifth-place into fourth-place at 921 to clinch the final Match Play berth.
Saturday’s Match Play Championship Semifinal round will feature Campbell against Charleston Southern starting on hole one, and High Point vs. Gardner-Webb beginning on hole 10. The winners of each match will play in the championship final Saturday afternoon, with the champion receiving the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
