Campbell Softball Selected for Durham Regional

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - For a third-straight season and sixth-time in program history, Campbell is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The 2023 Big South regular season and tournament champion Fighting Camels (41-16) will stay in-state to compete at the Durham Regional, May 19-21.

The Fighting Camels will play Charlotte (33-21) in its first game of the regional on Friday at 2:30 PM. Campbell defeated the 49ers, 6-1 (12 innings) in the first weekend this season. Big South Pitcher of the Year, Isabella Smith, tossed a complete game and totaled 199 pitches and 11 strikeouts in the win.

Campbell will return Saturday against either regional hosts Duke (45-10) or George Mason (35-22). The final of the double-elimination regional is set for Sunday at noon, with the winner advancing to a NCAA Super Regional (May 26-28). Duke, who earned the No. 8 overall seed for the tournament, defeated the Camels twice in Buies Creek this season.

Campbell defeated Longwood in the Big South Championship final on Saturday to earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Four Camels earned All-Big South Tournament honors on Saturday including Tyra Parker, Isabella Smith, Allyiah Swiney and tournament MVP Claudia Ware.
