High Point's Sydney Horn to Represent Team USA at U23 NACAC Championships

High Point University women's track & field pole vaulter Sydney Horn has qualified for the upcoming U23 North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Championships held in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Horn ranks 64th nationally among all collegiate and professional pole vaulters in the world. Among current U.S. competitors, she ranks 20th.
 
After an outstanding performance at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships on July 9th in Eugene, Oregon, Horn becomes the first track athlete in program history to qualify for the U23 NACAC Championships. Horn finished seventh overall out of 15 pole vaulters, clearing a height of 4.36 meters (4.50m-PR).
 
"As a coach, I am beyond proud of Sydney in her execution of the game plan at the USA Championships," pole vaulting coach Scott Houston stated. "She finished 7th in the country with a seasons' best earning her spot on the U23 USA Team. Representing our country on a global level is an absolute honor. Sydney continues to display her outstanding capabilities for High Point and now our Country at the U23 NACAC Championship's in Costa Rica. This will be yet another milestone for her in her conquest of vaulting greatness."
 
The NACAC U18 & U23 Championship will be held from July 21-23, 2023, at the National Stadium of Costa Rica. Horn will compete on Sunday, July 23rd at 9:00 AM.
