Gardner-Webb Men's Soccer Defeats South Carolina, 2-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb University men's soccer team took down the University South Carolina on the road in Columbia, S.C. on Sunday by a final score of 2-0. It's the first win for the Runnin' Bulldogs over a power five opponent since Sept. 1, 2009 when GWU defeated Clemson.
 
The 'Dawgs dominated from the start of the match with the first goal coming from sophomore forward Santiago Hoyos in the 7th minute. Samuel Ritner and Caio Hughes picked up assists. Hoyos scored his second of the day off a penalty in the 56th minute of the contest. The backline held strong to insure the shutout.

Gardner-Webb now sits at 2-0-0 on the season. Their next match is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. when they host James Madison University at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
