Big South Announces Men's Golfers of the Week - Sept. 28

Justin LaRue (South Chesterfield, Va.) has been named the Big South Men’s Golfer of the Week, while High Point’s
Jay Smith (Florence, S.C.) is the Men’s Freshman of the Week for events played Sept. 21-27, it was announced today.
LaRue tied for fourth at the Virtues Intercollegiate (par 72, 7,243 yards) with an 8-under 208 (72-67-69) for his second Top 5 finish of the fall and third Top 10 standing in three starts. He drained 15 birdies -- second-most in the 88-player field.
Smith tied for 20th at the JT Poston Invitational (par 71, 7,007 yards) with a 2-under par 211 (70-70-71). He totaled 13 birdies, while his 70 in the first round was a season best and helped the Panthers achieve the third-lowest round (277) in program history.
