CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– UNC Asheville midfielder Brendan Herb (Corvallis, Ore.) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while High Point defender Finn McRobb (Glasgow, Scotland) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Aug. 28-Sept. 3, it was announced today. In addition, Longwood forward Darcy Moffat (London, England) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.

Herb scored one goal and assisted on another in UNC Asheville’s 3-1 victory at Queens last Friday (Sept. 1). The Corvallis, Ore. native struck early with his first goal of the season in the 21st minute to put the Bulldogs ahead, 1-0. Following a quick Royals goal to cut Asheville’s lead to one following the halftime break, Herb created offense once again, this time assisting on a goal from teammate Conor Behan in the 64th minute to seal the win for AVL.

The Glasgow, Scotland native notched his first goal of the year in the eighth minute when he handled a rebound off the keeper and sent it low past the goalkeeper for a 1-0 advantage. Though the Purple Aces evened the score at 1-1 just before half, McRobb anchored the High Point defense to keep the opponent scoreless for the remainder of action allowing HPU to win it late with a winning goal in the 86th minute.

Making his collegiate debut, Moffat electrified the home crowd with a finish in the 46th minute. His score proved to be the game winner as Longwood went on to take down Mount St. Mary’s Saturday night (Sept. 2), 2-1. Moffat finished with two shots – both on goal – in his first action as a Lancer in a total of 49 minutes on the pitch. The win came in Longwood’s only match last week.
