Bryce Corbett (Gainesville, Va.) has been voted the first-ever Big South Preseason Men's Golfer of the Year, it was announced today. The award is voted on by the league’s head coaches and is based on this past fall season’s results entering the 2024 spring campaign.
Corbett, the 2023 Big South Men’s Golfer of the Year, finished the 2023 fall season with a league-best 70.00 scoring average. He had three Top 10 finishes, finished 7-under par in two tournaments, and was honored as Big South Golfer of the Week following his runner-up finish at the River Run Collegiate in September. Corbett, who is currently ranked No. 355 in Division I, had a season-best round of 66 at the River Run, and carded eight of his 15 fall rounds in the 60s -- including three tournaments with multiple sub-70 rounds. His three Top 10 finishes are second-most in the conference entering the spring season.
The 2024 spring season begins this weekend with USC Upstate in action. The 2024 Big South Men's Golf Championship will contested April 18-21 at the Ocean Creek Golf Course on Fripp Island, S.C. The championship will feature 54 holes of stroke play followed by a four-team Match Play Semifinal and Final to determine the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
