Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 14

Brendan Krueger (Clearwater, Fla.) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Winthrop goalkeeper
Andres Manzano Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 7-13, it was announced today. In addition, USC Upstate midfielder
Liam Duggan (Pickering, Ontario) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Krueger led the Panthers with one goal and two assists in a 5-0 home victory over Longwood. He netted the game-winner in the eighth minute to open the scoring before assisting on High Point’s third goal of the first half at the 16:24 mark. The junior tacked on another assist in the 72nd minute to round out his four-point performance, a new career high.
Standing in for the injured starter, Manzano Garcia allowed just one goal across two matches for Winthrop. He posted six saves and an impressive .857 save percentage for the week. The senior made three saves while conceding one goal on 13 shots against Gardner-Webb, then rebounded with his second career shutout, making three more saves on 13 shots faced against UNC Asheville.
Duggan recorded three assists over two matches for USC Upstate, including setting up the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Radford on Saturday. He assisted on Upstate’s only score against Furman to start the week, then contributed to two of the three goals against the Highlanders, providing key assists in the 60th and 90th minutes. Duggan’s final assist on the game-winner came with just 26 seconds remaining.
