CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Longwood’s Justin LaRue (South Chesterfield, Va.) has been named the Big South Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Presbyterian College’s Jeep Patrick (Hilton Head, S.C.) is the Men’s Freshman of the Week honoree for events played Oct. 10-16, it was announced today.

LaRue captured medalist honors at the Elon Phoenix Invitational (par 71, 6,871 yards) with a 12-under par 201 (69-69-63).  He won the event by two strokes, and his 54-hole aggregate 201 set a program record.  LaRue drained eight birdies during his final round 63 -- including six in his last 10 holes, and finished with 18 birdies overall.  He helped Longwood finish fourth out of 18 teams, as the Lancers were the top finisher among the four Big South squads in the field.

Patrick finished the Elon Phoenix Invitational with a 3-over 216 (69-74-73), which tied for 30th in the 106-player field.  He was PC’s top golfer and sixth-highest finisher among the Big South’s 22 competitors in the tournament.  Patrick collected a total of 11 birdies across his 54 holes.
