Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Oct. 24

Ella Perna (Durham, N.C.) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, with teammate
Ambre Matlega (Paris, France) earning the Women’s Freshman of the Week honor for events played Oct. 17-23, it was announced today.
Perna was the runner-up at the UNCG Collegiate (par 72, 6,029) with a 5-under 211 (70-66-75) to help the Panthers win the team title. Her second round 66 established her collegiate-low and featured six birdies. Perna tallied 13 birdies overall and was -4 on the par-5 holes in recording her third Top 10 finish and best standing of the fall season.
Matlega made her way into the starting lineup and tied for fifth at the UNCG Collegiate with an even-par 216 (72-71-73) for her first collegiate Top 10 finish. She made four birdies in her opening round and established her 18-hole collegiate-low in the second round. Matlega finished with nine birdies overall and tied for second in the 55-player field with her 3.97 scoring average on the par-4s.
