USC Upstate Wins Women's Soccer Regular-Season Championship

USC Upstate edged Gardner-Webb, 2-1 on Saturday to finish the conference season with a 5-1-2 record, 17 points and 2.13 points average, and capture its first Big South women's soccer regular-season title.  The Spartans will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Conference Championship, and will receive a bye into the semifinals on Nov. 7.  In other action, High Point defeated UNC Asheville, Longwood won at Charleston Southern, and Radford blanked Presbyterian.

acing a must-win situation for a chance to hoist a championship trophy, USC Upstate women's soccer accomplished something Saturday night that no team in the program's Division I era (2007-pres.) had accomplished and no team in program history had done since 2001. Replicating what it had done Wednesday evening to keep its championship aspirations alive, the Spartans scored multiple unanswered goals to overcome an early deficit, defeating Gardner-Webb 2-1 to capture the 2024 Big South Conference Regular Season Championship.

HIGH POINT 5, UNC ASHEVILLE 1 | BOX SCORE
 Four second-half goals propelled the High Point University women's soccer team to a dominating 5-1 victory over UNC Asheville on Senior Day Saturday to cap the regular season.  Senior Ella Vaughn netted her first collegiate hat trick, while fellow senior Alex DePerno dished out her second three-assist career game en route to the team's best regular-season finish since 2021. Amelia Courbron also reached a new career high with two assists.

LONGWOOD 2, CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 0 | BOX SCORE
Longwood women's soccer put together one of its best 90-minute segments of the season in a 2-0 win at Charleston Southern to close out the regular season.  Karleigh Minson gave the Lancers (4-9-5, 3-2-3 Big South) an early lead, and Brooke Bonner banged home a goal of her own after halftime. Meanwhile, the Lancer back line of Sydney Robertson, Berni Wayland, Amanda Arnone and Emma Jones, along with goalkeeper Sara Curtis, smothered CSU (5-6-3, 2-3-1 Big South) on the other end.

RADFORD 3, PRESBYTERIAN 0 | BOX SCORE
The Radford women's soccer program used a trio of evenly spaced goals to earn a dominant 3-0 road win at Presbyterian in their regular season finale Saturday afternoon.  Jashyra Johnson's goal in the opening minutes was her third this season, tied for third-most on the team.
