Big South Announces Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Dec. 11

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the opening weekend of the 2024-25 season.
 
Charleston Southern’s Micah Gilpatric (Greenville, S.C.) received Men’s Track Athlete of the Week accolades, while High Point’s Cole Wilson (Burgessville, Ontario) was tabbed the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honoree.  HPU’s Tim Brown (Davidson, N.C.) was honored as the Men’s Freshman Athlete of the Week.
 
Gilpatric ran a 7:54.64 in the 3000m at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.  He finished 29th out of 113 competitors in the event, earned 1,111 points on the World Athletics table, and his effort leads the conference.
 
Wilson broke the Big South and High Point record in the Heptathlon with 5,772 points at the Liberty Kickoff.  It was the top performance in the NCAA over the weekend, as well as a Canadian U-20 National record.
 
Brown posted a school-record 33.56 to win the 300m at the Liberty Kickoff -- the second-fastest time in Big South history.  Brown also helped the 4x400m relay team capture first-place with a school-record 3:12.43, which ranks sixth in the nation.
