Big South Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Dec. 11
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the opening weekend of the 2024-25 season.
Charleston Southern’s
Sarah McCartney (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was selected as the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while High Point pole vaulter
Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. HPU’s
Quiana Williams (Greensboro, N.C.) was the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree.
McCartney ran a school-record 16:22.51 in the 5000m at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener -- the third-fastest time in Big South history
Horn won the pole vault at the Liberty Kickoff with a clearance of 4.31m, which was the top performance in the NCAA during the weekend.
Williams clocked in Big South-leading times of 7.63 in the 60m and 25.37 in the 200m at the Liberty Kickoff.
