Big South Announces Women's Basketball Player of the Week - Dec. 16

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– High Point forward Nevaeh Zavala (Plano, Texas) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 9-15, it was announced today.
 
Zavala scored a game and career-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting (=53.8 percent) in High Point’s narrow 76-72 loss at Stetson on Saturday. She added four offensive rebounds, hit three of seven 3-pointers (=42.9 percent), and went a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. The junior opened the game strong, connecting from beyond the arc on High Point’s first two possessions and scoring eight of the team’s 16 first-quarter points. She added nine more points in the fourth quarter, helping the Panthers cut a 10-point deficit to just three with eight seconds remaining.
