Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Dec. 23

Taje’ Kelly (Atlanta, Ga.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while USC Upstate guard
Mister Dean (Miami, Fla.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Dec. 16-22, it was announced today.
Kelly averaged 31.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in road games at North Alabama and Georgia. He opened his week with a career-high 34 points along with a team-high 14 rebounds plus two steals last Thursday at UNA. Kelly followed with a game-high 29 points and 10 boards along with two assists and two takeaways in Sunday’s contest at UGA. For the week, he was 24-of-49 from the floor ( =49.0 percent), made 6-of-13 from the three-point range ( =46.2) and was 9-of-15 from the charity stripe.
Dean paced the Spartans with 20.0 points in two games last week, in addition to shooting above 50 percent in each contest along with 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He opened his week with 17 points, six boards, three assists and one steal against South Carolina State on Wednesday, then scored a game-high 23 points in addition to seven caroms, four helpers and two steals against Youngstown State on Saturday. Dean finished with a 52.0 overall field goal clip (13-of-25) and was 13-of-17 from the free throw line ( =76.5 percent).
