CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– High Point attacker Jordan Miles (Davidsonville, Md.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Panthers defender Aryss Lindsey (Silver Spring, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played on opening weekend, it was announced today. In addition, Presbyterian College midfielder Emma Claire Mills (Milton, Ga.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.

Miles matched a career-high with four goals in High Point’s season opener against No. 24 Duke on Sunday, tied for a team-high. She also set a new career mark in draw controls with five, which also tied for the most of any Panther. The junior struck for the first time to cap off three straight goals for HPU, helping to close within six with 7:30 to go in the second quarter. She added another with 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter before scoring twice in 40 seconds to open the fourth.

Lindsey totaled team-highs with four caused turnovers and four ground balls against the potent offense of No. 24 Duke. Both marks matched career highs for the senior playing in her first game as a Panther. Of Lindsey’s four caused turnovers, three came in the second half to lead an HPU defense that was able to hold the nationally ranked Blue Devils to just seven goals over the final two quarters.

Mills scored two of Presbyterian’s seven goals in her collegiate debut on Saturday against Stetson. Her two goals tied for a team-high, as she was one of only two Blue Hose with multiple scores on the afternoon. The freshman tallied three shots overall, connecting on each that she put on target.  Mills scored her first-career goal with 29 seconds remaining in the opening half before adding another at the 9:14 mark of the final period.
