Big South Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Feb. 14
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Feb. 9-11.
High Point’s
Katie Taylor (Tipp City, Ohio) was selected as the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate pole vaulter
Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. HPU’s
Brianna Malone (Barrington, N.H.) was the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree.
Taylor won the 5000m run at the Music City Invitational with a school-record time of 16:21.66, which is second-best in Big South history. She was the top finisher among the 47 competitors in the event.
Horn won the pole vault at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational with a season-best clearance of 4.42m. Her mark ranks fifth nationally this season.
Malone posted a PR in the mile run at the Music City Invitational with a time of 4:48.57. She finished 13th out of 101 runners, and moved into fifth on the Big South’s all-time list in the event.
