Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - Feb. 20

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Wofford attacker Bria Foley (Walpole, Mass.) and Furman attacker Anna Roser (Easton, Md.) have been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while High Point midfielder Esprit Cha (Ellicott City, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 12-18, it was announced today. In addition, Wofford defender Olivia Graebner (Yardley, Pa.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.

 

Foley matched a Big South record with 13 points to lead Wofford in a 20-19 win over Stetson on Friday. She scored six goals and added seven assists, both career highs, and added three draw controls. The junior from Walpole, Mass. totaled eight points in the first half alone on four goals and four assists before adding another two goals and three assists in the final two quarters. Her assist with 3:14 remaining helped the Terriers pull even at 19-19 before eventually going on to complete their first win of the season.

 

Roser totaled 11 goals in two games last week, including a school-record nine goals in a 19-15 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday. She added four ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. The junior opened the season with two goals on four shots with three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers against No. 21 Clemson on Wednesday. She then scored a career-high nine goals on nine shots to lead the Paladins over the Owls for their first win of the 2024 campaign.

 

Cha posted a career-high four caused turnovers with two ground balls to help lead the High Point defense in a 16-11 win over Campbell. She also led the Panthers with six points on four goals and two assists, all three of which were team-highs while setting new career marks for points and assists. Cha helped limit the Camels to only three goals in the first half while personally matching that output thanks to three goals of her own in the second quarter. Overall, she anchored an HPU defense that forced 19 turnovers while allowing only 19 shots on goal. 

 

Graebner gathered a career-high eight draw controls in a one-goal win against Stetson on Friday, a mark that tied a program record and is most in the conference this season. She also scored two goals, scooped two ground balls and caused one turnover, all while moving from defense to the midfield to fill a gap for the Terriers. The freshman scored her first-career goal unassisted with 12:13 remaining in the opening half before adding another with 7:48 to play in the third quarter.
