Big South Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Feb. 21

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Feb. 16-18.  High Point’s Lindsay Cooper (Charlotte, N.C.) was selected as the Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate pole vaulter Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Field Athlete of the Week honors.  HPU’s Gianna Paul (Wallerfield, Trinidad) was the Freshman of the Week honoree.

Cooper finished first in the 60m hurdles at the Virginia Tech Challenge with a season-best time of 8.51 seconds.  Her mark is tops in the Big South this season.
 
Horn won her second-straight pole vault event and third of the season with a height of 4.38m at the Virginia Tech Challenge.
 
Paul clocked a time of 8.70 seconds in the 60m hurdles at the Virginia Tech Challenge to place third at the meet.  Her effort ranks third in the conference this season and is tops among Big South freshmen.  She also finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.58m.
