Big South Announces Men's Golfers of the Week - Feb. 22

Mason Tucker (Lancaster, S.C.) has been named the Big South Men’s Golfer of the Week, while High Point’s
Jay Smith (Florence, S.C.) is the Men’s Freshman of the Week honoree for events played Feb. 15-21, it was announced today.
Tucker tied for first at the Wexford Intercollegiate (par 72, 6,884 yards) with an even-par 216 (71-73-72) to earn his first collegiate victory. He was the top finisher among the 30 Big South competitors in the tournament, and was also the overall leader in par-5 scoring at -4. Tucker finished with nine birdies and moved up three spots during the final round to claim a share of the 54-hole lead.
Smith tied for 20th at the Wexford Intercollegiate with a 6-over 222 (77-71-74). He had four birdies in his 1-under par second round, and finished the tournament with 10 total. Smith moved up two spots in the final round to match his best finish of 2023-24, and helped the Panthers tie for fourth-place in the team standings –- tops among the six Big South programs competing and a season-best finish for HPU.
