CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Feb. 2-4.

Charleston Southern’s Distance Medley Relay team was selected as the Women’s Track Athletes of the Week, while High Point pole vaulter Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.  HPU’s Brianna Malone (Barrington, N.H.) was the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree.

CSU’s quartet of Keerstin Augustin (1200m), Chloe Greene (400m), Anne Akagi (800m) and Sarah McCartney (1600m) won the DMR at the South Carolina Invitational with a school-record time of 11:46.26.  The effort ranks third in Big South history and 31st in the nation this year, and was nearly 30 seconds faster than the previous program record set four years ago.

Horn recorded a season-best height in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.39m at the Doc Hale VT Meet.  While she finished fourth in the event, her effort ranks ninth in the NCAA this season.

Malone finished fourth in the 800m at the Doc Hale VT Meet with a Big South season-best time of 2:07.97.  That performance ranks fifth all-time in conference history.
