Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - April 10
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville’s Linge Steenkamp (Bloemfontein, South Africa) has been named the Big South Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Radford's Michaela Stephens (Gravel Hill, Clarendon, Jamaica) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week for matches played April 1-7, it was announced today.
Steenkamp competed with Ari Siegel for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles over Radford last Saturday, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 straight-set win on the No. 1 singles court. Her efforts helped UNC Asheville to a 4-3 victory over the Highlanders to secure a share of the regular season championship.
Stephens competed against UNC Asheville on Saturday, where she teamed up with Brooke Murphy for a 6-2 doubles victory on court three. She then continued her success with a 6-2, 7-5 straight-set victory at No. 2 singles.
