USC Upstate softball continued its winning ways, as the Spartans downed the Presbyterian Blue Hose 4-2 on Friday night, in game one of the three-game Big South series.

USC UPSTATE 4, PRESBYTERIAN 2 | BOX SCORE
After a scoreless first inning for both the teams, USC Upstate got on the board in the top of the second courtesy of Cassie Norris. Norris sent a single down the right field lines that allowed Abigail Pippen to reach home from second base. The Blue Hose responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to make the game tied at one-run apiece. Both teams had a quiet third inning on offense, but it would be Upstate that once again was able to get momentum on offense. Celeste Delorenzo capitalized on stepping up to bat with the bases loaded and dinged a single up the left field line that not only advanced Alanna Deal to second but also sent Cassie Norris and Amie Johnson running for home, giving Upstate a one-run lead.
