Big South Announces Men's Tennis Players of the Week - April 17
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville's Bruno Serra (Burlington, N.C.) has been named the Big South Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Presbyterian's Evgenios Vasilakis (Athens, Greece) is the Men’s Freshman of the Week for matches played April 8-14, it was announced today.
Serra teamed up with Tarek Erlwein for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point in UNC Asheville’s 5-2 win over Presbyterian on Monday. He then competed against Tennessee Tech on Sunday where he teamed with Cian Ingles for a 6-4 doubles victory on court two before winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to help UNC Asheville to a 5-2 win over Tennessee Tech.
Vasilakis posted a 3-0 record in his matches last week. In Monday’s match against UNC Asheville, he recorded a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles to finish the conference season 4-0 in singles play. On Saturday’s road match against William & Mary, he teamed with Javier Matos for a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Blue Hose. He then posted a 6-4, 6-2 singles win on court four.
