Big South Announces Seedings for 2024 Men's Golf Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) –- Radford University has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big South Men’s Golf Championship, which will be hosted at the Ocean Creek Golf Course on Fripp Island, S.C.  The Highlanders receive the No. 1 seed based on its current Clippd national ranking of 147, the highest among the eight Big South men’s golf programs.
 
High Point is ranked No. 181 in the nation by Clippd and receives the No. 2 seed, just ahead of defending champion and three-seeded Longwood’s ranking of 192.  Winthrop earns the No. 4 seed with its national ranking of 202.  Charleston Southern, ranked No. 214, will be the No. 5 seed in the championship, with Presbyterian (223) receiving the No. 6 seed.  Gardner-Webb receives the No. 7 seed (No. 225), with USC Upstate at No. 9 (269).
 
The Big South Men’s Golf Championship will be held at the Ocean Creek Golf Course as part of the Fripp Island Golf and Beach Resort for the first time, and will utilize a par 71, 6,526-yard layout to determine this year’s champion.  The 2024 Big South Men’s Golf Championship begins tomorrow (Thursday, April 18) with a morning practice round followed by the first round of competition in the afternoon.  A three-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be held April 18-20, followed by a Semifinal/Final Match Play round featuring the top four team finishers from stroke play on Sunday, April 21.  Championship action can be followed online via GolfStat’s “Live Scoring” feature.  The 2024 champion from Match Play will receive the Big South’s automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.  The Conference Championship schedule is as follows, and is subject to change due to weather:

Meanwhile, the Big South Conference will present its 2024 All-Conference Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic Team, All-Championship Team and the annual award winners on Saturday, April 20 following the 54-hole stroke event at the post-Championship awards ceremony.   The team and runner-up trophies will be presented at the conclusion of Sunday’s Match Play competition.
