Big South Announces Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 17

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions this past weekend of April 11-14.  High Point’s Katie Taylor (Tipp City, Ohio) was selected the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate vaulter Auriane Viola (Schiltigheim, France) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.  Charleston Southern’s Freya Buglass (Trowbridge, England) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week.
 
Taylor ran a school-record time of 16:18.82 in the 5000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational.  She finished 13th overall, and her time is third all-time in Big South history.
 
Viola claimed fourth in the pole vault at the Beach Invitational with a personal-best clearance of 4.06m.  Her effort is tied for seventh in the conference record book.
 
Buglass posted the second-fastest 800m time in the league this season with her 2:10.48 at the Duke Invitational.  She finished sixth in the event.
