Big South Women's Lacrosse Recap - April 17

Radford, High Point and Furman picked up women's lacrosse wins on Wednesday.

RADFORD 16, GARDNER-WEBB 6 | BOX SCORE
Radford women's lacrosse dominated in their mid-week matchup against Gardner-Webb winning 16-6 Wednesday afternoon. Mady Cheney spearheaded the victory with four goals with an addition of nine other scorers from the Highlanders.  The game started with a bang for the Highlanders as Cheney earned back-to-back goals on free-position attempts. The Bulldogs responded for the only goal allowed by Olivia Hunter. From there, Radford couldn't be stopped at they went on 9-0 run, shutting out Gardner-Webb in the second period.

HIGH POINT 17, WOFFORD 14 | BOX SCORE
In what was a back-and-forth game, the High Point University women's lacrosse team found a 4-0 run over the final 10 minutes to keep a lead Wofford College couldn't reach and secure the Panthers' fifth straight Big South Conference win on Wednesday, 17-14.  The victory kept HPU undefeated against the Terriers all-time, 3-0.  Trailing for the first time in five games, HPU kept finding answers when the Terriers responded. That was until the fourth quarter when Esprit Cha tied the game at 14-all via an assist from Kay Rosselli.

FURMAN 17, LONGWOOD 16 | BOX SCORE
 Hannah Dintino's goal with 14 seconds remaining in regulation lifted the Furman women's lacrosse team to a 17-16 victory over the Longwood Lancers in Big South action, Wednesday evening at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.  Furman, who remains undefeated in conference road games, improves to 7-8 overall and 5-1 in the Big South. With the loss, Longwood drops to 7-8 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.  Dintino, who became the Paladins' all-time leading goal scorer in last Saturday's win at Winthrop, scored her fifth goal of the contest after Katelyn Sousa forced a turnover a few seconds earlier. The fifth year from Westminster, Md., netted the game-winner off Sophie Shaw's fourth assist of the evening to improve Furman to 4-0 in Big South road games this season.
