Seedings Announced for 2024 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) -- For the second consecutive year, associate member
Mercer University has earned the No. 1 seed in the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Championship and will host the league’s four-team postseason tournament next weekend, it was announced today. The Bears finished a perfect 8-0 in league matches and are the outright Big South regular-season champions for the second-straight year. Mercer is seeking its third consecutive Big South Tournament crown in three years of associate membership.
High Point finished second in the conference standings at 7-1 and is the No. 2 seed.
Furman followed at 6-2 to clinch the No. 3 seed, and
Longwood landed the fourth and final seed with its 5-3 conference record.
The 2024 Big South Women’s Lacrosse Championship will be played Friday, May 3 (semifinals) and Sunday, May 5 (championship) at Five Star Stadium on the campus of Mercer University in Macon, Ga. Longwood will face off against top seed Mercer in the first semifinal match on Friday, May 3 at 4:00pm. High Point and Furman will meet in the second semifinal later that evening at 7:00pm. All three matches of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+, and the Big South’s tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
