Big South Baseball Recap - April 6
Charleston Southern, USC Upstate and Presbyterian won on Saturday to clinch their respective Big South series, while High Point shutout UNC Asheville to even that series at 1-1.

Charleston Southern clinched the series win at Longwood on Saturday by a final score of 19-10 in the second game of the weekend. The Bucs jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to the victory. The Buccaneers got on the board again early this series, scoring four runs in the second inning. Christian Bauman sent a double to center with Lucas Pringle and JJ Rivera each drawing walks to load the bases. Alex Urlaub then walked as well to bring home the first run of the day. Evann Long stepped up later with the bases still loaded and sent a double to left field to clear the bags and put them ahead 4-0.

Making a return appearance to ESPNU for the second straight season in the Big South Conference's first regular season appearance on the network since 2015, USC Upstate baseball outlasted a late rally from Winthrop, earning a series victory behind a 13-10 win Saturday evening at The Winthrop Ballpark. The Spartans jumped out front in the first and wouldn't trail the remainder of the night, scoring 10 unanswered runs to begin the game, leading 10-0 heading into the home half of the sixth. The Eagles plated three runs across the sixth and seventh before Upstate got its runs back with three in the top of the ninth. Winthrop attempted a comeback as it plated seven runs in their final plate appearances before falling short as the Spartans shut the door.

The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team (15-16, BSC: 6-2) beat the Radford Highlanders (9-19, BSC: 2-6) behind a two-run homer from Noah Lebron.
After a scoreless first inning, the Highlanders got on the board first with a home run in the top of the second. Adam Featherstone started out the bottom of the third inning with a double down the right line before Eli Lazio advanced him to third with a sacrifice bunt. Aaron Hobson then reached on a passed ball while Featherstone ran home for PC's first run of the day. Jay Wetherington hit a sacrifice bunt which advanced Hobson to second base before Brody Fahr sent him in for a run with his single through the right side. As the next batter, Joel Dragoo hit a double to left center field to pick up the team's third run of the inning.

The Panthers scored eight runs and shutout the Bulldogs as the High Point University baseball team took game two from Asheville on Saturday afternoon, 8-0. This is the first shutout by HPU since May 8, 2022, against North Carolina A&T. Brett Wozniak started game two and was dominant through eight innings as he finished only allowing six hits and holding the Bulldogs to no runs. Wozniak improved to a 4-1 record on the year. Konni Durschlag got the Panthers rolling right off the bat as he sent a ball over the left field wall for a leadoff home run. His second long ball of the season.
