Big South Softball Recap - April 6
Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb picked up doubleheader sweeps on Saturday to clinch series wins, while USC Upstate completed its three-game sweep of Longwood to take command of first-place in the Big South standings.

Game 1 - After Presbyterian (14-25, 4-4 in conference) got out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Bucs (17-18, 4-4 in conference) responded with two in the third inning. Carsten Sandvig tied the game with an RBI single that scored BriAnna Brooks. Then, after Sandvig stole second base, Gracie Prince lined a double in center field to make it 2-1.
Game 2 - The Bucs (18-18, 5-4 in conference) were in control from the beginning, scoring two in the second and two in the fourth inning and tied their season high of 12 hits. Lacy Johnson provided the game's first run with an RBI double. She came around to score on an RBI single by BriAnna Brooks. In the fourth inning, Johnson provided another run with a sacrifice fly that scored Harper Schoeneweis, and Madelyne Lee scored Weslin Jones with an RBI single.

Game 1 - GWU came back from down 6-0 in the first game starting in the third with Emily Garcia reaching home and Ella Christopher homering to score three making it 6-4. They tied the game in the fourth with a SAC fly from Alyssa Bonilla and a single from Adrienne Visintine. After losing the lead briefly in the bottom of the fourth, GWU scored one run per inning the rest of the game with Visintine and Tayler Dreher hitting solo shots.
Game 2 - The Runnin' Bulldogs took their offensive momentum straight into the second game of the series breaking through in the fourth inning to put up seven. Kayleigh Nicholson and Christopher both hit homeruns in the frame. Annicka McLaughlin and Visintine hit singles in the fifth ending the game in favor of the 'Dawgs 9-1 via run rule.

USC Upstate softball earned its first Big South series sweep of the season after finishing the series against Longwood with a 5-3 comeback win on Saturday afternoon at Cyrill Stadium. After suffering back-to-back losses to the hosting Spartans on Friday, the Lancers were able to establish a 3-0 lead in the first inning of game three. Upstate remained composed and made adjustments through the next three innings which paid off in the bottom of the fourth as Taliyah Thomas scored the first run of the game. Thomas reached home safely reached home from her stolen second base thanks to Abigail Pippen's single to left field. The Spartans came alive in the fifth inning as Denver Lauer's single up the middle was enough to advance Aime Johnson home to bring the game within one run.
